Masters in Instant Noodles

I started to have instant noodles when I was... maybe when I was 6 yrs old. I think instant noodle is one of the greatest inventions for cooking dummies like me.

At one stage, mom used to stock boxes of thai mama instant noodles at home. Then her kids can have it for supper if they are too lazy to get food from outside.

This thai noodle is so yummy that you can just eat the noodle itself before even cooking it. It tastes a bit like the good malaysian kids Mamee snacks.

It's tomyam flavour. I think it used to be super spicy. Now this noodle is not as spicy as it used to be. I think it's not my taste bud. It's a general review from my tomyam noodles craver cousin as well.

During my recent trip I bought this thai noodle from 7-11 in Thailand.
The texture of the noodles is very similar to the Mama's noodle. It's also tomyam but has a very nice lemon grass flavour. I prefer this than the Mama's noodle. Surprisingly it's produced by Nissin. I couldn't get this in any Malaysian supermarket and hypermarket. hehe... my dear frens if you happen to go to Thailand please bring me some...

Instant noodle is a very Asian culture. During my stay in Melbourne, my aussie dad and mom bought some instant noodles for the Asian girls at home, especially me, because I'm so hopeless that I could only master the art of cooking instant noodles. I had one attempt of cooking pasta at home while they were away and it is the yuckiest pasta with white sauce you can find on earth. It's sour!

Hmm... my Korean housemate Jee-Young introduced this noodle to me.
Sutah Ramen means hand made noodles (手打拉面). Jee told me it's her favourite noodle in Korea and it's a very good cure for hangover. I totally have no objections on it. Everytime I had too many drinks at the club, it's an instant cure to wake me up in the morning. It never fails. Jee taught me the Korean way of cooking this noodle. Just chop one onion and add it in the boiling water along with the packed mushrooms and carrots in the packet. For this noodle you need to cook longer and it's very springy. After that add the extra hot chili powder. Add an egg and the heat from the noodles will cook the egg.

Sutah Ramen is quite hard to find in Singapore/ Malaysia. So far I could get it from the Cold Storage at Wisma Atria, Singapore and supermarket at Island Plaza, Penang. I haven't seen it in KL yet. In Melbourne, you can get it from the minimarket at Glen Waverley.

Shin ramen (辛)ramen is one of the more popular Korean instant noodles but trust me you will not return to Shin ramen once you have a taste of Sutah ramen.

hungry... hungry... there is only ordinary maggie chicken, vegetarian, duck and indomee in the storage... sienz...
